St. Peter Track & Field A Close Second on Saturday

The five team Aurora Conference track meet on Saturday at Aurora Central Catholic High School quickly became a battle between two schools. In the end, Holy Angels of Aurora edged the St. Peter Rockets by an overall score of 601.5 - 600. 

Two St. Peter school records were broken in the team's first meet of the season. Newcomer Alec Wilson, a 7th grader won the 200 meter dash in a school record breaking 28.65 seconds. Also the 4x200 team of 8th graders Jacob Berry, Drake Hoffner, Lucas Metzger and Matt Will won their event in a record breaking 2:03.35. 

Team leaders included 8th grader Jacob Berry, 7th grader Eileen Drew and 6th grader Colin Burke. Berry, also new to the team this season won the 100 meter dash, the 200 meter dash and was in the winning 4x200 relay team. Eileen Drew won all four of her events including the 100 meter hurdles, the 100 meter dash, the 4x100 meter relay and long jump. Colin Burke won the 100 meter dash, the 200 meter dash and was a part of a winning 4x100 meter relay team.

Also notable were the 5th grade girls team. They overwhelmingly won their division with 157 points to second place St. Mary DeKalb with 31 points.

Overall it was a great start to the St. Peter Rocket's season. After an Easter break the Rockets travel to Marmion Academy on April 26 where they will face perennial front runner Annunciation of Aurora.
