'Stop The Bleed' Training Offered In Geneva
A "train the trainer" Stop the Bleed training will be held on Friday, March 6 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Delnor Hospital.

KANE COUNTY, IL — The Kane County Health Department Medical Reserve Corps in collaboration with several community partners is conducting a “train the trainer” Stop the Bleed on Friday, March 6 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Delnor Hospital, 300 Randall Road in Geneva. The Stop the Bleed basic training content includes use of hands to apply pressure to a wound, packing a wound to control bleeding, and correct application of a tourniquet, according to a news release from the Kane County Health Department.
This “train the trainer” course will cover how to conduct the training as a new instructor, including the practical portion, training ratios, and materials used.
Designed by the American College of Surgeons, this course will teach participants to use techniques than can save the life of someone with severe bleeding, according to a news release. . Certificates of completion will be provided on-site during the class.

In addition, the Illinois Terrorism Task Force is issuing bleeding control kits through a grant program to all Illinois Schools and will issue up to five kits when at least five staff members have completed training.
The goal of the training is to increase the number of community trainers in the area who can serve as volunteers and agency partners to conduct trainings as needs arise throughout Kane County, according to a news release. This course is for individuals who are eligible to become Stop The Bleed instructors as outlined at KaneHealth.com/Pages/Events.aspx.

In addition, an open training class will be held Saturday, March 28 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin.
