Strikers Fox Valley Soccer Club celebrated its 25th anniversary by hosting the inaugural Gold & Black Bash on Saturday, February 7th in Geneva. Parents, coaches, and alumni attended the event to honor many accomplishments. While Strikers teams and players have had many successes on the soccer fields, developing and strengthening friendships and giving time and energy to support charities has always been an important part of the club’s culture. In 2014, several Strikers teams supported Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October by sporting pink socks or shirts. The U-11 and U-12 girls’ teams packed food for the Blessings in a Backpack project; they provided bags of food to 100 kids at an Aurora elementary school on a WEEKLY basis! In addition, Strikers teams had a Christmas Giving Tree, collections for soccer equipment, and a food collection which benefited The Salvation Army. Teams across the club also came together for the club picnic, pool parties and pizza parties, and sleep-overs and glow in the dark soccer at our indoor facility! The first annual Alumni Turkey Cup was started, allowing former Strikers to come back and enjoy the game of soccer with old friends. Many Strikers have continued their soccer careers in collegiate play, whether it be at the club or varsity level. Strikers Fox Valley offers our U-23 program for these players so they can return over the summer to keep their skills and training levels sharp. Games are played at East Side Sport Complex (off Kirk Rd & Legacy Blvd.) in St. Charles in June and July. Registration opens Feb 15, 2015 for men’s and women’s teams.
