Substation Bid Unanimously Rejected By Geneva City Council
Staff plan to rebid the electrical substation work in anticipation of a better response, officials said.
GENEVA, IL — Geneva City Council unanimously voted Monday night to reject a bid to construct an electrical substation at the Geneva Business Park.
Bids for the project opened Sept. 5 and only one, from Haughland Energy Group, LLC, was received. At $1,873,000, the Melville, New York-based company's bid was nearly $800,000 over the engineer's estimated cost of $1,073,577, Assistant City Administrator Benjamin McCready said at the meeting.
The substation would be located at 1717 Averill Road in Geneva.
