Third Street To Close For Geneva Arts Fair

Large crowds are expected to venture to the Geneva Arts Fair, police anticipate.

GENEVA, IL — Third Street in downtown Geneva will close at the end of July to make way for the Geneva Arts Fair.

Large crowds are expected to turn out for the festival, planned from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 25-26.

To accommodate the event and give artists space to set up their booths, Third Street from James to South streets will be closed to drivers beginning at 5 p.m. July 24.

Parking on the same stretch of Third Street will be prohibited beginning at 3 p.m. July 24, after which remaining vehicles will be towed. Portions of the 200 and 300 blocks of Franklin Street also will be closed. "No parking" signs will go up the morning of July 24, police said.

Third and Franklin streets are expected to reopen to traffic by 8:30 p.m. July 26.

Police may use a drone during the festival for real-time aerial monitoring, officials said.
