This Town Was Named The Best Place To Live In Kane County

Not only is the city filled with restaurants, cafes and boutique shops, it also has highly rated public schools.

GENEVA, IL — Deciding where to live isn't always an easy decision, but one community in Kane County has received top rankings from Niche.

In Kane County, Geneva was named the No. 1 best place to live by data-driven platform Niche.

Geneva offers residents a "sparse suburban feel" with a plethora of entertainment options, from restaurants and coffee shops to summer festivals and green spaces. Public schools are highly rated, and residents tend to be more liberal, according to Niche.

"Geneva takes pride in being named the top place to live in Kane County. The City stands out for its small-town charm, strong sense of community, safe neighborhoods, and excellent schools, parks, and library," Communications Coordinator Kevin Stahr told Patch in a statement. After Geneva, Niche said the best places to live in Kane County — from second to fifth places — are Campton Hills, Batavia, St. Charles and Sleepy Hollow. Aurora, Illinois's second-largest city and the largest in Kane County, came in 14th place.

Now in its 12th year, Niche's 2026 Best Places to Live ranking helps everyone from young people just starting their careers or families to retirees decide where they want to live. The report analyzes places of various sizes. The ranking includes 230 cities and 18,000 towns, suburbs and neighborhoods.

Among states overall, Illinois ranks in eighth place. The state’s highest marks were in five categories: outdoor activities, best city to live, best place to raise a family, lowest cost of living and most diverse.

Clarendon Hills ranked No. 1 in the country for the best place to raise a family, while Naperville was named the best city in America for the third consecutive year.

The rankings are based on a wide range of public data sources, including the U.S. Census Bureau, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, combined with millions of resident reviews.
