'Tremendous Accomplishment' for Fourth-Place Vikings
Geneva Vikings lose to Bolingbrook in Saturday's third-place finale.

Fortunately, as years go by the fourth-place state finals trophy — first in program history — will no doubt ease the pain for players on this Geneva basketball team.
Ending with their only two-game losing streak in the record-tying 30-5 season was tough to take for the Vikings after falling 38-36 to Normal Community in Friday’s semifinal and 63-42 to Bolingbrook in Saturday’s third-place game.

“We’ve gotten further than any Geneva team (in the state tournament) besides (tying) for the school record for most wins,” Coach Phil Ralston said.
“I think it’s a tremendous accomplishment.”
