Geneva Gas Guide: Hooray! Price Goes Down, and Other Good News

National average gasoline prices declined 6.8 cents per gallon of regular gasoline this week, and are down 12.4 cents a gallon from a month ago.

The price dropped in Geneva, too. Last week, the best Geneva deal recorded in Gas Guide was $3.87. This week, it's $3.79.

For other good news, just look at the prices a year ago. Remember that problem with regional prices due to issues at the BP refinery in Whiting? We do.

The bad news, if you're looking for it, is that we're always higher than the national average.

AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report showed that nationally, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline on late Wednesday was $3.572 a gallon, down slightly from $3.583 a day earlier and down from $3.640 a week ago. The national average of a gallon of regular gas a month ago was $3.696, and was $3.922 a year ago. The highest recorded average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $4.114 on July 17, 2008.

This week, Batavia gas stations were tied for the lowest price per gallon of regular gasoline in the Tri-Cities on Wednesday, pennies below the usual member-based low-cost filling stations in Batavia and St. Charles, according toIllinois Gas Prices.
