Tri-Cities Death Notices: A Longtime St. Charles Alderman, a Music Teacher, a Hines Lumber Man

Brief stories and links to the obituaries of Geneva, Batavia and St. Charles folks who passed away, for the week prior to July 9.

  • Martin C. Anderson, 94, of St. Charles worked for Edward Hines Lumber in St. Charles for many years. He was a World War II veteran having served in the Army. He also belonged to the Vikings for more than 50 years.
  • George F. Paulus, 62, of Aurora, died Friday June 28, 2013 at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago following a six-month battle with AML Leukemia. He had a love of wrestling and placed second in state in Tallmadge High School earning him a scholarship for wrestling to Kent State University. He was employed at Southwest Appliance in Lombard before moving on to Honda of Lisle where he worked for 34 years.

  • Violet E. Cosentino, of Dixon, IL, formerly of St. Charles, IL, died July 7, 2013. Funeral Mass will be Thursday July 11, at St. Patrick Crane Road Catholic Church, 6N491 Crane Road, St. Charles, IL 70175. Visitation will be Wednesday.
  • Sue Ann Heider, 66, of South Elgin, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Michealsen Health Care Center, Batavia. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 12, 2013, at St. Patrick Crane Road Church, 6N487 Crane Road St. Charles. Visitation will be held Thursday.
  • Frances O’Lary Huff Thompson of St Charles, married her high school sweetheart, James Loren Thompson, Jr., and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage until his death in 2012. She taught kindergarten, developmental first grade, and first grade at Little Woods, Munhall, and Davis Schools in St Charles IL, retiring in 1990. Prior to teaching, Frances played in symphony orchestras in Evansville, IN; Pensacola, FL; and DuPage County, IL.
  • Scott W. Munroe, 53, of St. Charles, was a managing director with Pershing, LLC for more than 25 years. Scott had bravely confronted and fought cancer, with his dynamic nature, friendly manner, sense of humor and engaging smile. He a cherished friend of many.
  • Eileen K. Rohlfing, 60, of St. Charles, IL died July 1, 2013. She is survived by her mother Marian Ruthowski of Darien, IL and her husband of almost 20 years Richard Rohlfing; children Amy Conrad of St. Charles, IL; Mandy (Aaron) Wauters of Geneva, IL; Ryan Moss of Geneva, IL; John (Kim) Rohlfing of Yorkville, IL; Christine (Tony) Tucci of Lewiston, ME.

  • Madeline Ann Greeney, 93, of St. Charles, died peacefully on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center in St. Charles. She was born August 25, 1919 in St. Charles, the daughter of Phil and Germaine (nee Vermeesch) DeMann. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Heath.
  • Michaleen Patricia Hogan, 47—obituary pending.
  • Stanley H. Johnston Jr., 80, of Batavia, graduated from Batavia High School in 1951. After high school, he attended Knox College where he graduated in 1955. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and worked for many years for the Chicago NorthWestern Railway. Stanley was a dedicated volunteer for many years at the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry.
  • Donald Earl Nippert, 87, fifth-generation St. Charles resident, a trained paratrooper during World War II, an Aurora College grad, a manager of customer service for the Howell Company and traffic manager for DuKane Corporation. “Nip” as he was known to his friends, served as a St. Charles alderman for 10 years and a member of the Northern Illinois Selective Service Board. He was a member of the La Societe des Quarente Hommes et Huit Chevaux and the St. Charles American Legion Post 342 and at the time of his death the oldest living past commander.
  • Marlene A. Pederson, 78, of Geneva and formerly of Batavia where she had lived since 1962, loved to sing and was an accomplished pianist.  She was a member of Batavia Congregational Church where she had frequently sung and played piano.
