Walmart, 2 Others Donate 43,000 Pounds Of Food To Geneva Pantry
Walmart, Bimbo Bakeries USA and Tyson Foods recently donated protein and bread to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

GENEVA, IL — Walmart, Bimbo Bakeries USA and Tyson Food donated nearly 43,000 pounds of food to the Northern Illinois Food Bank, officials announced.
It's the sixth year the three companies have partnered up in an effort to end hunger across the United States.
Representatives from each of the three companies visited Northern Illinois Food Bank, at 273 Dearborn Court in Geneva, Dec. 8 to deliver 5,000 pounds of bread and 37,926 pounds of protein and tour the facility. The food will be given to individuals and families throughout the coming weeks, according to the nonprofit organization.

"We are so thankful to our corporate partners for this generous donation," Julie Yurko, president and CEO of the Northern Illinois Food Bank, said in a statement.
Yurko said the food pantry has seen a 40 percent increase in people using the organization's services in the past year year and a 50 percent increase since before the pandemic. She cited inflation and rising costs as the reason why.

"Donations like this help us keep up with the increased demand and ensure our neighbors have the food they need to thrive," Yurko said.
