Woman Fatally Hit By Train, Traffic To Be Stopped For Hours: Geneva PD
It happened on the Union Pacific-West Line near Crissey Avenue on the city's east side around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Update: As of 10 a.m., police said the train crossing has reopened, but commuters are still encouraged to check Metra's website for schedule changes.
GENEVA, IL — A woman was fatally hit by a train around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to Geneva police. The incident happened on the Union Pacific-West Line near Crissey Avenue on the city's east side.
Geneva commuters who use Metra should find alternative arrangements to get to work, officials said. Train traffic will be stopped in both directions for "the next several hours" while authorities investigate, police said.

The Union Pacific-West Line will run on a shortened schedule, with an extra train coming from West Chicago, making "all station stops into Chicago," Metra said in a tweet. Significant delays are expected, and officials said commuters should check Metra's website for the latest schedule changes.
Railroad crossings at Third Street and Western Avenue remain open to traffic.
