Learn skills in crisis intervention and active violence preparedness through courses offered in May and June by the College of DuPage Police Department. Courses are free and open to the public. Registration is required.
“Crisis Intervention: What YOU Need to Know,” presented from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, via Zoom, provides an overview of best practices in the event you encounter someone in crisis. Participants will also learn how to recognize the signs of a crisis event and actions you can take to assist someone in crisis.
“Active Violence Preparedness Phase II,” presented from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, in the Homeland Security and Education Center (HEC) Room 1005/1009 on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd., emphasizes strategies for developing an awareness of your surroundings and the fundamentals of informed decision-making in threatening situations.
