GLEN ELLYN, IL — Lake Ellyn Park will once again light up with paper lanterns as visitors join in the Glow in the Park Lantern Walk to raise money for Lurie Children's Hospital. The free event will take place from Sept. 11 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Participants can bring their own paper lanterns or buy one for $15 decorate it ahead of the walk. Paper lantern kits with a paper shade, carrying stick and LED light are available at Main Street Recreation Center through Sept. 4.
Kits will also be available for purchase with cash only during the night of the lantern walk.
Proceeds will be donated to Lurie Children's Hospital.
The event begins at 5p.m. with family-friendly activities that include face painting, bounce houses and live music from Tres Moustaches. Food will be available to purchase at the event.
At 7:20 p.m., attendees will illuminate their lanterns and walk around the perimeter of Lake Ellyn.
