GLEN ELLYN, IL — Glen Ellyn Park District's Oaktoberfest returns Oct. 10 in a new location that ties in to the festivals focus on oak trees. There will also be a craft beer garden at this year's Oaktoberfest, which is set for Oct. 10 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lake Ellyn Park
During the free, family-friendly event, The Fall Guys and School of Rock will perform live music. Visitors can take a guided tour to see Lake Ellyn Park's oak trees or engage in activities that include a tree treasure hunt and a crafting project to make an acorn talisman.
A face painter will be onsite and The Little Bits Workshop artist Liita Forsyth will head up a collaborative art project.
The Beer Cellar will be pouring drafts at Oaktoberfest's new craft beer garden. Part of the proceeds will help support Glen Ellyn Park District's programming and scholarships.
"OAKtoberfest brings people together to enjoy the beauty of fall while building a greater appreciation for our native oak trees and the many species they support," Laurie Bellmar, Environmental Outreach Specialist for the Glen Ellyn Park District, said in a statement.
Bellmar added, "Lake Ellyn Park's historic oaks provide the perfect backdrop for families to explore nature, have fun and connect with organizations working to protect our local environment."
