GLENVIEW, IL — The results of the 2021-22 Character Counts! in Glenview poster and video contest are in, and 13 standout students will be honored at the Glenview Village Board of Trustees meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

The contest has become an annual staple in the Glenview community, recognizing artwork and videos from Glenview students that celebrate the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect,

responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. This year’s contest prompt was, “Who is your hero? What qualities make this person a hero? How can you take those qualities and use them in your life?”

“Every single entry we received was a powerful reminder of our power to do good and the importance of the six pillars of character,” said Scott Carlson, committee co-chair. “Since 1996, the goals of the Character Counts! committee have been embedded in our school curriculum, on athletic fields, and throughout the communities. We exist as a community-wide effort to foster civility, community engagement, and leadership in our children.”

The poster contest was judged by a panel from the Glenview Public Library, and the video contest was judged by a trio of local heroes from the Fire Department, Police Department and 9-1-1 Public Safety Dispatch Center.
