$30K In Unauthorized Purchases Reported: Glenview Police Blotter

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

COMPANY CREDIT CARDS USED

A resident reported July 16 that their company had been the victim of identity theft.

The resident told police that 22 unauthorized purchases totaling more than $30,052 were made on seven credit cards between July 2 and July 6.

FRAUDULENT BANK ACCOUNT

A resident reported July 14 that they received a letter from their bank regarding an account fraudulently opened in their name.

The account had an overdraft balance of $1,959.98, according to the report.

PERSONAL INFORMATION OBTAINED

A resident in the 1800 block of Glenview Road reported July 16 that someone posing as a leasing representative fraudulently obtained their personal identifying information during a telephone call.

The caller allegedly told the resident they had been approved for a Best Buy line of credit they had not applied for.

COINBASE CHARGES

A resident reported July 16 that two unauthorized charges of $4.99 each from Coinbase appeared on their checking account.

The resident said they did not have a Coinbase account and did not know who made the transactions.

BAG TAKEN FROM ROADWAY

A resident in the 2200 block of Robincrest Lane reported July 17 that a bag fell from their open trunk while they were driving east on Glenview Road near Raleigh Road.

The resident returned immediately but found that the bag was gone. Witnesses told police that a black vehicle occupied by two women stopped near the bag before one of the women got out and picked it up.

The vehicle then left eastbound. The bag contained miscellaneous items valued at approximately $2,500, and the resident indicated they would sign complaints.
