$34K Car Stolen From Hotel Parking Lot; Office Thefts: Blotter

A Texas resident said his car was stolen from a hotel parking lot; a wallet and purse were taken from office desks: Glenview Police Blotter.

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Shane Tatum, 28, of the 400 block of Allen Court, Wheeling, is accused of driving on a suspended driver's license, unlawful display of registration, operating an uninsured vehicle, speeding, and was arrested at 12:49 a.m. July 6 following a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released on an I-bond with a court date set for July 21 in Skokie.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

Muhammad Shihadeh, 32, of the 300 block of Greenleaf Avenue, Wilmette, is accused of aggravated assault, and was arrested at 8:51 a.m. July 9 at the Glenview Police Department. The charge came as a result of an incident which occurred at 7:51 a.m. July 2 in the 1700 block of East Lake Ave. Shihadeh was released on an I-Bond with a court date set for Aug. 4 in Skokie.

AGGRAVATED DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Camar R. Bennett, 37, of the 2100 block of Parkview Court, Wilmette, is accused of aggravated driving under the influence, driving under the influence, driving on a suspended driver's license, speeding, and was arrested at 1:05 a.m. July 10 in the 1000 block of Glenview Road. He was held pending a bond hearing at the Skokie Courthouse.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

  • An employee of a business in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road reported at 10:44 a.m. July 6 their purse was stolen from their work desk between 6:50 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. July 6. The reported loss is $340.
  • An employee of a business in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road called police at 12:53 p.m. July 6 to report their wallet stolen from their office sometime between 8:45 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. July 6. Reported loss is $100.
  • A resident in the 600 block of Long Road reported at 3:17 p.m. July 10 somone stole two lawn ornaments from the front lawn between June and July 10. Total reported loss is $45.

COMPUTER FRAUD

A Robincrest Lane resident called police at 1:21 p.m. July 6 to report someone hacked their online payment account and made 39 unauthorized transfers of money. Reported loss is $3,953.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Glenview Road reported at 9:38 a.m. July 7 that between 8 a.m. and 4:35 p.m. that day someone damaged the windshield on their vehicle while in the parking lot. Reported loss is $1,000.

BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE

  • A resident in the 300 block of Parkview Road reported that during the overnight hours of July 7 someone broke into their vehicle and stole a speaker. Reported loss is $51.
  • A resident in the 900 block of Kings Lane called police at 5:20 a.m. July 9 to report someone entered and rummaged through their two vehicles, and took a bank checkbook from one of the vehicles. Both vehicles were parked in the driveway, unlocked. Loss is $20.
  • A resident in the 1600 block of Del Ogier Drive reported at 1:14 p.m. July 9 someone entered and rummaged through their unlocked vehicle while parked in the driveway between 3 p.m. July 8 and 7:30 a.m. July 9. Taken was $30 and a backpack containing shoes. Loss is $380.

AGGRAVATED IDENTITY THEFT

A Fairway Drive resident reported at 7:24 p.m. July 9 receiving a text message claiming to be from the Illinois Department of Transportation, regarding a driver’s license waiver validation, with a link. The resident clicked on the link, which opened a form resembling one from the DMV. The resident completed the form, entering personal information including their social security number, before realizing it was a scam. No loss at this time.

STOLEN VEHICLE

A resident of Texas called police at 9:49 a.m. July 10 to report their car stolen from a hotel in the 2600 block Lehigh Avenue between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 9:49 a.m. that day. Loss is $34,000.
