4 Men Steal Cash Register After Door Smash: Glenview Police Blotter

In two separate incidents, a boulder and brick were used to enter the businesses.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. DOMESTIC BATTERY

  • Ranchi Thomas, 69, of the 400 block of Warren Road, Glenview, is accused of domestic battery, and was arrested at 5:04 p.m. Oct. 22, following the investigation of an incident in the 400 block of Warren Road. Thomas was taken to the Skokie Courthouse for a bond hearing.
  • Stephen Gorka, 41, of the 4000 block of Crestwood Drive, Glenview, is accused of domestic battery and was arrested at 11:03 p.m. Oct. 22, following the investigation of an incident in the 4000 block of Crestwood Drive. Gorka was taken to the Skokie Courthouse for a bond hearing.
  • Robert Riemann, 27, of the 700 block of 7th Street, Northfield, is accused of domestic battery, and was arrested at 1:17 a.m. Oct. 21, following an investigation into an incident in the 700 block of 7th Street. He was held for a bond hearing.

  • An employee of a business in the 200 block of East Lake Avenue reported that at some time during the overnight hours of Oct. 18, someone broke a glass window on the back patio and gained access to the patio.
  • A resident in the 3200 block of Brandess Drive called police to report that between Oct. 20 and Oct. 21, someone stole the catalytic converter from their Hyundai vehicle while the vehicle was parked in the parking lot of a business in the 4500 block of West Lake Avenue.
  • Four males threw a brick through the front door of a business at 5:38 a.m. Oct. 22, in the 900 block of Harlem Avenue. They entered the store and took the cash drawer with money and left in a white SUV.
  • Four males threw a boulder through the front door of a business at 5:44 a.m. Oct. 22, in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road. They entered the store and took the cash register, money and electronics. The four subjects left in a white SUV.
  • An employee of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported at 4:48 p.m. Oct. 23, several patrons of the facility reported having items stolen from lockers inside the business.

STOLEN VEHICLE

  • A resident in the 300 block of Lincoln Street called police to report that during the overnight hours of Oct. 19, someone stole their vehicle from the driveway. The owner was in possession of the keys, but couldn’t recall if they locked the doors. At 4:34 a.m., an exterior surveillance camera showed the car's headlights being turned on.
  • A resident in the 300 block of Lincoln Street reported their vehicle left in the driveway unlocked with the keys inside during the overnight hours of Oct. 20, and the car was stolen.

FORGERY

  • A Wilmette resident reported at 9:47 a.m. Oct. 20, a check they placed into the receptacle at the Glenview Post Office, 1400 Patriot Boulevard, was intercepted in the mail and cashed in a different amount to a different person.
  • A resident in the 2200 block of Butterfly Lane reported that between Oct. 6 and Oct. 13, someone forged three personal checks recently mailed from the Glenview Post Office, 1400 Patriot Blvd.

BATTERY

An employee of a business in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 11:47 a.m. Oct. 20, a customer pushed them in the chest during an argument. Officers gave the customer a trespass warning to the business at the request of the business.

THEFT

A resident in the 1200 block of Waukegan Road called police to report that between 10:20 a.m and 3 p.m. Oct. 13, someone stole a computer monitor which was delivered to the residence.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

A resident from the 0-100 block of Glenview Road reported at 2:06 p.m. Oct. 22, someone damaged the side mirror on their vehicle while parked in the driveway, sometime overnight.

NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE

A Prospect Heights resident was cited at 10:20 p.m. Oct. 24, for no valid driver's license, suspended vehicle registration, in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue. They were released on bond with a court date set for Nov. 28.
