GLENVIEW, IL — Los Lobos is set to headline Glenview Blocktoberfest 2026, a free downtown festival scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, along Glenview Road.
According to the organizers, Friends of Downtown Glenview, the event will run from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. between Church Street and Pine Street.
Los Lobos, the Mexican American rock group, rose to international stardom with their version of "La Bamba" in 1987. The band recorded some Ritchie Valens covers for the singer's biopic of the same name, with the title track becoming a No. 1 single. Other Los Lobos songs featured in the "La Bamba" film included "Come On Let's Go" and "Donna," with both also charting for the band.
The four-time Grammy winners, who formed in 1973 in East Los Angeles, are influenced by rock and roll, Tex-Mex, country, zydeco, folk, R&B, blues, brown-eyed soul and traditional music including cumbia, boleros and norteños.
Friends of Downtown Glenview, a nonprofit community organization, tells Patch the festival is intended to celebrate "all the fresh new energy in the heart of downtown and beyond."
Admission is free, while food and beverages, including beer, wine and hard seltzer, will be available for purchase.
Music is scheduled on two stages throughout the day, starting at 11 a.m. with a K-pop dance party. The lineup also includes Band of Very Ordinary Musicians, Echoes of the Alps Alphorns, Nikki O'Neil, Northside, Groove X, Beyond the Blond, Zydeco Voodoo and Altered Five Blues Band.
Families can also find activities in the festival's Kid Zone from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Organizers said that area will include crafts, games, balloon art, costumed characters and more.
A paid Supporters Lounge will also be available, offering premium views of the bands and other amenities. According to the event information, tickets cost $100 per person when purchased in advance and $125 on the day of the show. The lounge will include deluxe restrooms, food and beverages, a private bar and merchandise, and that group rates are available.
