BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE
- A Northbrook resident reported a burglary from vehicle at 2:06 p.m. May 28, in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road. The resident parked an unlocked vehicle in front of a business at 11:30 a.m. and returned 20 minutes later to find a handicap placard missing.
- An employee for a business in the 2000 block of Johns Drive reported at 7:39 a.m. May 31, that catalytic converters had been cut off and taken from five vehicles between 3:19 a.m. and 7:39 a.m.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A resident in the 2100 block of Rugen Road reported at 5:32 p.m. May 31, that someone broke the front glass window door of the residence between 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
THEFT
- A resident of the 200 block of Shermer Road reported at 1:14 p.m. May 26, that they had been texting with someone they believed to be a celebrity. The resident sent photos of two $25 Apple gift card numbers to the person before being informed it was a scam and blocking the number.
- A Mount Prospect resident reported at 12:36 p.m. May 27, that they gave a Chicago resident more than $20,000 over several months for assistance getting a family member to the United States from another country. The person continued asking for more money due to complications until the resident realized it was a scam.
- A resident of the 1800 block of Culver Lane reported at 2:31 p.m. May 30, that an unlocked bicycle was stolen from a bike rack in the 1900 block of Glenview Road.
- A Niles resident reported at 4:14 p.m. May 31, that they were shopping at a business in the 0 block of Waukegan Road around 2:30 p.m. and left their purse in a cart. When the person went to the checkout, their wallet was missing from the purse. Employees told the person they were the second customer that day to have a wallet taken.
RETAIL THEFT
- Employees for a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported at 5:47 p.m. May 27 that a Winnetka resident took merchandise valued at $25 and concealed it in a shopping bag while paying for another item. The person was issued a village ordinance citation for theft and given a trespass warning not to return.
- Employees for a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported at 2:15 p.m. May 29, that a person stole two items with a total value of $59.97. The person returned the items to the store, was issued a local ordinance citation for theft and was given a trespass warning.
- Employees for a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road reported at 10:53 a.m. May 31, that someone took $197 worth of food and alcohol past the last point of purchase without paying before entering a vehicle and leaving.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident of the 2000 block of Tower Drive reported at 5:26 p.m. May 31, that they had been approached May 25 in the parking lot of a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard by a man in his 30s driving a black BMW SUV. The man talked to the resident about a car detailing business and gave the resident a steel card to tap against their phone. The resident later had attempted charges on their credit card.
AGGRAVATED IDENTITY THEFT
A resident reported at 6:57 p.m. May 31, that they were shopping at a business in the 0 block of Waukegan Road around 2:50 p.m. and left their purse in a cart. When the person went to the checkout, their wallet was missing from the purse. The resident later learned several purchases had been made with their credit card at different stores in Niles.
INTIMIDATION
A resident of the 100 block of Elm Street reported at 7:21 p.m. June 1, that they had been communicating through TikTok, Instagram and then their cellphone with an unknown person they believed was a woman. The resident sent nude photos of themselves, and the person demanded money or threatened to release the photos to the resident’s Instagram. The resident tried to send money through Venmo, but the transaction was blocked as a scam.
DUMPING
Employees for a business in the 2300 block of Ravine Way reported at 1:12 p.m. May 26, that two people drove a box truck to the location and emptied furniture and garbage into the business’ dumpster. The estimated cost to empty the dumpster was $1,000.
HARASSMENT
- A resident of the 2300 block of Lily Lane reported at 9:38 a.m. May 27, that they had received 36 phone calls over the last month from a blocked number. The male caller made insulting statements but did not make any threats.
- A resident of the 3700 block of Greenleaf Avenue reported at 5:10 p.m. May 29, that they were being harassed online. The person made statements about coming to Chicago and needing extra protection.
BATTERY
- A Morton Grove resident reported at 2:06 p.m. May 29, that a man threw an opened water bottle into the open window of the resident’s vehicle after a motorist dispute near Shermer Road and East Lake Avenue.
- Officers responded to the 1000 block of Zenith Drive at 9:47 p.m. May 31, for a report of a person bleeding. The person had been involved in a physical altercation with someone who was no longer on scene and did not want to provide information about the incident.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A Chicago resident reported at 10:28 p.m. May 31, that someone damaged the windshield of the resident’s vehicle during an altercation in the 1000 block of Zenith Drive.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A person followed a mail carrier from the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard to the 1500 block of Independence Avenue at 12:24 p.m. June 1, then spat on the window of the mail truck. The person was issued a village ordinance citation for disorderly conduct.
ORDINANCE VIOLATION
Officers responded to Lake Glenview at 6:56 p.m. May 27, for a person who was not releasing fish they caught and did not have a license.
TRESPASS WARNING
- Employees for a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 3:21 p.m. May 28, that a DoorDash delivery driver parked in the fire lane. After security told the person not to park there in the future, the person began swearing at the security guard and left without incident.
- A resident of the 1800 block of Tanglewood Drive reported at 8:03 p.m. May 29, that a person had been seen walking through backyards and on driveways in the area on different occasions. Officers made contact with the person, who did not have a valid reason to be in the area, and issued a trespass warning not to return.
- A resident of the 1800 block of Tanglewood Drive reported at 7:20 p.m. June 1, that a person was sitting in their vehicle after previously being trespassed. The person believed they were only trespassed from one address. Officers gave the person a trespass warning for all addresses on the property.
