The piece also recognizes Glenview’s Madelyn O’Mera for graduating magna cum laude in health sciences from James Madison University.    

• Retired Lake Forest Fire Chief Mike Beatty remembered by family, community for helping shape fire department (chicagotribune.com) — Glenview readers may feel a special connection to retired Lake Forest Fire Chief Mike Beatty, whose son Zach now serves as a lieutenant in the Glenview Fire Department. Family and colleagues recall Beatty’s decades of service, leadership during Lake Forest’s growth, and his love of mentoring, birdkeeping, scouting, and community involvement before his retirement to Stockton, Illinois.    

• RESULTS: 2026 U.S. Open Final Qualifying (ohio.golf) — Glenview golfer Charlie Nikitas came up just short in the 2026 U.S. Open final qualifying in Columbus, carding rounds of 67 and 72 but missing the cut at 139. The event sent four players, including Ohio’s Vaughn Harber and medalist Davis Thompson, on to the championship at Shinnecock after dramatic late heroics and a tense playoff.
