GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Theft And Fraud
- A Chicago resident is accused of taking products from a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road at 5:47 a.m. June 18. They were issued a citation for theft and given a trespass warning not to return.
- A resident in the 1200 block of Pine Street reported at 4:54 p.m. June 18, that they mailed two donation checks to the American Red Cross and Salvation Army through the post office on June 11. Police said the checks were intercepted and washed, with a different payee listed, then deposited. Complaints will be signed.
- A resident in the 4500 block of Concord Lane reported at 6:34 p.m. June 19, that an unknown person cashed 12 fraudulent checks since March. The total loss was $305,000, according to police. Complaints will be signed.
- Employees at a business in the 1300 block of Waukegan Road reported at 3:04 p.m. June 19, that a man entered the business, looked around, went behind the counter and stole $110 from the register. Police said the man had been carrying a cardboard sign selling candy bars. The incident was captured on surveillance video, and complaints will be signed.
- Officers responded to a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard at 3:50 p.m. June 22, and met with a person who reported being fraudulently charged $8,000 on their credit card after three men posing as youth basketball fundraisers outside the business processed what the person believed was a $5 donation using a mobile card reader.
- A resident reported at 2:32 p.m. June 22, that they lost $2,200 after sending Apple gift card codes to a person on WhatsApp posing as USPS and claiming payment was required to deliver a package.
- A Des Plaines resident reported June 23 that their dog went missing and they believe an unknown person may have taken the dog.

Fleeing, Hit-And-Run And Traffic Incidents
At 7:04 p.m. June 20, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations and stolen license plates. Police said the driver fled, struck another vehicle in traffic and continued onto southbound Interstate 294. No injuries were reported, and complaints will be signed.
Battery, Assault, Disorderly Conduct And Damage
- Employees at a business in the 1800 block of Waukegan Road reported at 8:31 a.m. June 18, that an unknown person defaced the back door of the business with graffiti sometime overnight. No complaints will be signed.
- A Highland Park resident reported being pepper-sprayed through the vehicle windows while driving north in the 1100 block of Waukegan Road at 9:10 p.m. June 20. The driver of the other vehicle denied spraying anything but admitted to a dispute, police said. No citations or arrests were made.
- Officers responded to a neighbor dispute in the 600 block of Carriage Hill Drive at 4:23 p.m. June 21, where a resident reported their neighbor damaged their door frame while trying to force entry during an argument over parking. The neighbor received a trespass warning.
- Officers investigated a physical altercation involving two co-workers in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road at 1:19 a.m. June 23. No complaints were signed.
- Officers responded to the 100 block of North Branch Road at around 11:44 p.m. June 22, for criminal damage to property after an unknown person threw a stone through a residence window.
Domestic Battery, Battery And Warrants
- Louis Sher, 46, of Glenview, is accused of domestic battery, following an arrest June 17 at his residence. Sher was held in custody pending a conditions hearing June 18 at Skokie Courthouse.
- Samuel Kaufman, 50, of Round Lake Beach, is accused of aggravated battery, following an arrest June 18 at the Glenview Police Department after an investigation in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road on March 15. Kaufman was processed and released under Cook County Non-Discretionary Pretrial Release Conditions, with a court date set for June 22 at Skokie Courthouse.
- Jose Ortiz-Rodriquez, 21, of Wheeling, is accused of a Cook County failure to appear warrant, following an arrest June 21 in the 500 block of Waukegan Road. Police said he was taken to Cook County Jail and turned over to the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.
Traffic Arrests
- Alejandro Olvera Jr., 24, of Des Plaines, is accused of speeding 26-34 mph over the limit, following an arrest June 15 in the 2400 block of East Lake Avenue. Olvera was cited and released under Cook County Non-Discretionary Pretrial Release Conditions, with a court date set for July 9 at Skokie Courthouse.
- Kristel Bastidas Castro, 32, of Chicago, is accused of driving with no valid license and speeding 15-20 mph over the limit, following a traffic stop June 19 in the 2400 block of Sanders Road. She was processed and released under Cook County Non-Discretionary Pretrial Release Conditions, with a court date set for July 9 at Skokie Courthouse.
- Isidro Chavez Contreras, 55, is accused of driving while license revoked and not wearing a seat belt, following a traffic stop June 19 in the 1200 block of Greenwood Road. He was processed and released under Cook County Non-Discretionary Pretrial Release Conditions, with a court date set for July 9 at Skokie Courthouse.
- Mustafa Kashit, 23, of Niles, is accused of speeding 26-34 mph over the limit and no insurance, following a traffic stop June 19 in the 9500 block of Milwaukee Avenue in Niles. Kashit was cited and released under Cook County Non-Discretionary Pretrial Release Conditions, with a court date set for July 27 at Skokie Courthouse.
- David Ernst, 91, of Mount Prospect, is accused of driving with no valid license and improper lane usage, following a traffic stop June 20 in the 2400 block of East Lake Avenue. He was processed and released under Cook County Non-Discretionary Pretrial Release Conditions, with a court date set for July 9 at Skokie Courthouse.
