GLENVIEW, IL — The 2026-27 school year is getting underway in Glenview, with Glenbrook High School District 225 students returning first and younger students following next week.
District 225 began classes Thursday. Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 students in grades 1-8 return Wednesday, Aug. 19, while preschool and kindergarten students begin Aug. 20. Glenview School District 34 also starts Aug. 20.
Here are some of the important dates Glenview families should know:
The district adjusted its 2026-27 calendar after eliminating an eight-period review day before semester exams. Students will also attend school on Indigenous Peoples' Day, while Election Day on Nov. 3 will be a holiday.
District 30's school calendars list Aug. 19 as the first day for grades 1-8 and Aug. 20 for preschool and kindergarten. The district's published newsletter schedule also confirms Thanksgiving, winter and spring break periods.
District 34's calendar lists Aug. 20 as the first day for students from preschool through eighth grade.
Students will be off Nov. 25-27 for Thanksgiving, while winter break runs from Dec. 21 through Jan. 1, with classes resuming Jan. 4.
Spring break is scheduled for March 22-26, and the final day for students is May 27. The district has set aside June 1-7 as emergency days if needed.
