Mailbox Blown Up With Explosive: Glenview Blotter

Police also reported 82 unauthorized DoorDash purchases, a $3,400 retail theft and several DUI arrests.

GLENVIEW, IL — A Glenview resident told police their wooden mailbox was blown up by an explosive during the early morning hours of Aug. 15, according to the latest Glenview Police Department reports.

Police said the incident occurred around 1:33 a.m. in the 800 block of Queens Lane. No injuries were reported in the information provided.

It was among several incidents recently reported by Glenview police.

The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department and court records. Criminal charges are accusations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Updated case information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Theft, Retail Theft

Employees at a business in the 2600 block of Patriot Boulevard reported Aug. 17 that a former employee made 82 unauthorized DoorDash purchases using the company's credit card between October 2024 and July 2026.

An employee at a business in the 3700 block of Willow Road reported that two women entered the store Aug. 14 and stole more than $3,400 worth of cosmetics and hair products. Police said the two are also suspects in several other retail thefts at CVS locations and that complaints will be signed.

A resident in the 4100 block of Cove Lane reported Aug. 17 that an unauthorized $190 check had been drawn from their bank account.

Identity Theft

A resident in the 4100 block of Miller Drive reported receiving a $392.09 AT&T bill for three phone lines and phones they did not recognize or authorize.

Another resident reported Aug. 13 that their missing Illinois driver's license had been fraudulently associated with a second Uber account containing approximately 150 rides. The resident had last used the license in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

Arson, Criminal Damage

A resident in the 800 block of Queens Lane reported Aug. 15 that their wooden mailbox had been blown up by an explosive earlier that morning.

Officers responded Aug. 13 to a business in the 1900 block of Johns Drive for damage to a chain-link fence.

Disorderly Conduct

A resident in the 2700 block of Charlie Court told police Aug. 12 that a neighbor struck their unoccupied vehicle while holding a cell phone, then approached the residence and banged on the front door while playing loud music.

Criminal Trespass

Officers responding to an alarm Aug. 14 in the 2200 block of Sanders Road found an open window where a board had been removed. Police did not locate anyone inside.

DUI, Order Of Protection

Michele Solo, 58, was arrested Aug. 13 in the 1500 block of Waukegan Road and charged with violation of an order of protection and driving under the influence following a traffic stop. Solo was transported for a condition hearing at the Skokie Courthouse.

Jihan McCrary, 44, of Northbrook, was arrested Aug. 10 following an ambulance-assist call in the 2300 block of Waterview Drive and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. McCrary was released on a pretrial release form and given an Aug. 27 court date in Skokie.

Angelo Di Paolo, 87, was arrested Aug. 10 following a report of an intoxicated person and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Di Paolo was released on a pretrial release form and given a Sept. 14 court date in Skokie.

Rachel Solovastru, 38, of Des Plaines, was arrested Aug. 11 following an investigation involving an intoxicated person and charged with two counts of driving under the influence. Solovastru was released on a pretrial release form and given a Sept. 2 court date in Skokie.

Reckless Driving

John Kullman, 37, was arrested Aug. 12 following a traffic stop and charged with reckless driving. Kullman was released on a pretrial release form and given a Sept. 2 court date in Skokie.
