GLENVIEW, IL — A new family-owned Mexican restaurant has opened along Waukegan Road in Glenview.
Monarca Mexican Grill, 1869 Waukegan Road, is serving brunch, lunch and dinner daily, with a menu centered on homemade, traditional Mexican cuisine.
The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day, according to its website. Monarca describes itself as family-owned and operated, with an emphasis on family recipes, fresh ingredients and traditional dishes.
The menu includes Mexican brunch staples such as chilaquiles, huevos rancheros and huevos con chorizo, along with tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesabirrias, tamales, fajitas and carne asada.
Other offerings include ancho chicken pasta, salmon topped with mango pico de gallo, guacamole, shrimp ceviche, street corn, tres leches cake and choco flan.
Monarca is also now a member of the Glenview Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber has a Monarca Mexican Grill grand opening on its September event calendar.
The Glenview Village Board also took action recently involving the restaurant. On Aug. 18, trustees gave final approval to an ordinance increasing the number of Class A liquor licenses in the village to accommodate Monarca Mexican Grill.
Under Glenview regulations, Class A licenses apply to establishments serving alcohol for on-premises consumption in connection with a restaurant operation.
Monarca Mexican Grill is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 1869 Waukegan Road. The restaurant can be reached at 224-432-5161.
