GLENVIEW, IL — An identity theft scam involving people posing as FBI and Citibank representatives, a stolen vehicle fleeing police and a retail theft valued at more than $3,000 are among the latest reports from the Glenview Police Department.
The following information comes from Glenview Police Department reports. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.
Glenview Police Department: A resident reported at approximately 7:44 p.m. Sept. 8, that unknown offenders posing as representatives of Citibank and the FBI falsely claimed a $2,000 credit line had been opened in the resident's name. The offenders obtained personal identifying information before the resident realized it was a scam.
300 block of Montgomery Lane: A resident reported at 9:45 a.m. Sept. 9, that two loans totaling $9,501 had been fraudulently opened in the resident's name using a former address.
800 block of Glenview Road: A resident told police at 6:26 p.m. Sept. 9, that a white van appeared to follow the resident to their home.
2800 block of Pfingsten Road: Employees at a business reported at 9:17 a.m. Sept. 10, that an unknown man entered the store, used a key to access secured displays and took a large number of items valued at $3,160.28 before leaving without paying.
Juan C. Retamozo Flores, 44, of Maywood, was arrested at 7:39 p.m. Sept. 10, following a traffic stop in the 2900 block of Willow Road. He was charged with driving with a license never issued and expired registration. He was released under Cook County Non-Discretionary Pretrial Release Conditions and given a Sept. 30 court date in Skokie.
John Agustine, 45, of Glenview, was arrested at 4:48 p.m. Sept. 11, in the 3000 block of Sanders Road following a traffic stop. He was charged with speeding 26-34 mph over the limit. Agustine was cited and released under Cook County Non-Discretionary Pretrial Release Conditions and given an Oct. 16 court date in Skokie.
2700 block of West Lake Avenue: A resident reported at 6:07 p.m. Sept. 11, that an unknown person had converted 14,000 airline miles into a $140 gift card. Police said the transaction occurred May 20.
Patriot Boulevard/East Lake Avenue: Glenview officers were dispatched at 2:41 p.m. Sept. 12, to assist Northbrook police after a stolen vehicle fled a traffic stop and headed south on Patriot Boulevard in the northbound lanes. Glenview officers located the vehicle and attempted another traffic stop, but police said the driver continued fleeing west on East Lake Avenue.
Eliseo Alejo Carballido, 42, of Niles, was charged at 10:37 p.m. Sept. 13, following a traffic stop in the 2900 block of Milwaukee Avenue. Police said he had never been issued a driver's license. He was released under Cook County Non-Discretionary Pretrial Release Conditions and given an Oct. 16 court date in Skokie.
2300 block of Lehigh Avenue: Employees at a business reported at 8:29 a.m. Sept. 13, that an unknown person gained unauthorized entry and stole $600.
2400 block of Chestnut Avenue: Police responded at 7:26 p.m. Sept. 14, to a business following a physical altercation between patrons. A resident was issued two village ordinance citations for battery.
3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue: Police responded at 8:19 p.m. Sept. 14, after a person took merchandise from the lobby of a business without paying. The person was issued a village ordinance citation.
Ana Gonzalez, 22, of Wheeling, was arrested at 2:43 p.m. Sept. 7, in the 2600 block of Sanders Road following a traffic stop and charged with no valid driver's license. Gonzalez was cited and released under Cook County Non-Discretionary Pretrial Release Conditions and given a Sept. 30 court date in Skokie.
Nun Cung, 35, of Prospect Heights, was arrested at 10:29 p.m. Sept. 7, in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue following a traffic stop and charged with driving while his license was suspended. Cung was cited and released under Cook County Non-Discretionary Pretrial Release Conditions and given an Oct. 16 court date in Skokie.
