GLENVIEW, IL — Two incumbents and a first-time candidate will make up the Citizens for Glenview slate for next spring's village board election, the group announced Tuesday.
Trustees Mary Cooper and Katie Jones will join Steve Toomey on the slate for the April 6, 2027, municipal election, when voters will elect three trustees to four-year terms.
In an Oct. 13 news release, the group described the soon-to-be-established Citizens for Glenview Party as a nonpartisan organization of residents working to select qualified candidates to serve the community.
The slate pairs Cooper and Jones' experience on the village board with Toomey's background in business leadership and consulting, according to the announcement.
Mary Cooper
Cooper, a Glenview resident for 35 years, is seeking her third term on the village board.
She has more than 30 years of business experience as a strategic marketer advising Fortune 500 consumer products organizations, according to her biography. She also has served on boards of local organizations and schools.
Cooper raised four children in Glenview who attended local public schools through graduation from Glenbrook South High School. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and an MBA in marketing from Saint Louis University.
"It is an honor to serve and give back to a community that has provided my children with outstanding opportunities and a strong foundation for success," Cooper said in the release.
"Having witnessed and contributed to Glenview's growth, I am committed to helping shape and implement a forward-thinking vision that preserves what makes our village special while preparing for the future."
Katie Jones
Jones, who has lived in Glenview for nearly 14 years, is seeking a second term.
A former Glenbrook North High School teacher, Jones taught for 11 years before becoming a stay-at-home mother, according to her biography.
Her community service includes four years on the Glenview School District 34 board and two years on the village's Development Adjustment Commission. She also served as president of the Glenview Methodist Preschool board and spent seven years on the Lyon/Pleasant Ridge PTA board.
Jones and her husband have two daughters attending Pleasant Ridge Elementary School and Springman Middle School. She holds a bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University and two master's degrees in education disciplines from National Louis University.
"I'm excited to build on the progress of the last four years and continue to serve the people of Glenview," Jones said in the release. "I love living here, and I'm committed to keeping Glenview a sought-after destination for generations to come."
Steve Toomey
Toomey is making his first run for village trustee, bringing more than 30 years of business leadership and consulting experience, according to his biography.
His career has included helping build and grow businesses in the United States and internationally, with leadership roles in Chicago, Buenos Aires and Dubai. He currently is a partner at Advantage Performance Group, a BTS company.
Toomey also has served in appointed local government roles, according to the release.
"Glenview is a terrific community, and I'm excited for the opportunity to play a more significant role in its future," Toomey said in the announcement.
"As a first-term trustee, I hope to bring a fresh perspective and draw on my business experience to help the Village make thoughtful decisions, plan for the future and continue delivering for residents."
The group said residents will have opportunities in the coming months to learn more about the candidates' experience and plans for Glenview.
