GLENVIEW, IL — Santa, free train rides and hot cocoa will help Glenview celebrate 30 years of its Holiday in the Park & Parade when the annual tradition returns Saturday, Nov. 28.
The celebration runs from 4 to 6 p.m., beginning at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove St. The parade will travel west along Glenview Road and end at Jackman Park, 1011 Lehigh Ave.
At the park, Santa and his helpers will greet children with a gift. Families can also enjoy free kiddie train rides, a hayride and a photo booth, along with complimentary hot cocoa and treats while supplies last.
The Glenview Chamber of Commerce organizes the event as a way for the chamber and local businesses to thank the community for its support.
Parade Committee Chairperson Jerry Doetsch, who has led the parade for more than 20 years, said the families along the route make the preparation worthwhile.
"From the smiling faces along the parade route to the moment Santa arrives, the energy and joy of this community make all the planning worthwhile," Doetsch said in a news release.
Chamber Executive Director Meghan Kearney said the event offers neighbors a chance to celebrate together.
"It brings neighbors together celebrating the season and gives families the chance to create lasting holiday memories," Kearney said in the release.
Sponsors include Busey Bank, Compass Real Estate, Glenview Park District, Northern Power Washing, Endeavor Health/Glenbrook Hospital, Lakefront Creative Group, RJBullion and Sweet Heart Shoppe-Misericordia.
