Annual Business License Fees Waived in Glenview
Village officials decide it's not worth the time to chase business owners over such a small fee.

GLENVIEW, IL - Businesses in Glenview will no longer be required to renew their business licenses every year.
The village decided it’s not worth worth the time village staff would spend on reaching out to the 30 percent of business owners who would not be on time with their payments, according to a report from the Glenview Announcements.
The annual license renewal fee was $40 for restaurants and $35 for other businesses.

"It was really a nuisance for the businesses and a burden for village staff to collect the renewal every year," Kenney said. "It was a very small fee to chase folks around for."
The change is expected to result in an estimated $44,000 loss in revenue to the village.

While eliminating the business renewal license fees, the village made up for part of the financial hit by increasing the price of first-time business license fee and requiring restaurants to pay an annual amount for health inspection.
