Back To School: Glenview 2021-22 School Calendar

Parents in Glenview can mark the first day of school coming later this summer.

GLENVIEW, IL — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Glenview, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Glenview School District 34, Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 and Glenbrook High Schools District 225.

The first day of school for Districts 34 and 225 is Aug. 18. District 30 doesn't begin until Sept. 2.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point. A mix of in-person, virtual and hybrid learning is still possible in the Glenview districts.

On Wednesday, the Illinois Federation of Teachers and Cook County Department of Public Health announced its endorsement of guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Illinois Department of Public Health calling for universal masking in schools, regardless of vaccination status.

Earlier this month, school officials in District 34 said they have "begun to thoroughly review the details of the guidance and determine the impact on District 34’s health and safety protocols for the start of the school year. We promise to share our protocols and other important information as soon as we can prior to August 18, the first day of school for grades 1-8." The district said it intends to pick up where things left off at the conclusion of last school year.

District 30 said all Northfield Township Schools will offer full in-person learning this fall. There will be no hybrid. An update on its plan regarding any mask mandates is expected Friday. A district spokesperson told Patch they are considering following any guidance from the CDC and will follow the updated CDC guidance on universal masking regardless of vaccination status.

District 225 Superintendent Dr. Charles Johns said in June, "We are expecting clear guidance for schools from the Cook County Department of Public Health, Illinois State Board of Education, and the CDC, which will inform us if masks will be required or not for the next school year."
