Bicyclist Dies From Injuries After Being Struck By Car: Glenview PD

The 36-year-old had remained hospitalized in critical condition since the crash last week, according to police.

GLENVIEW, IL — A Niles man has died from injuries sustained last week when he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle in Glenview. Baldomero Martinez, 36, was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition following the crash on Aug. 15. He was pronounced dead there at 1:29 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police, Martinez was traveling northbound at 8:59 p.m. Aug. 15, on his bicycle in the median in the 800 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He then turned into the southbound lanes of traffic. A 2017 Toyota Avalon traveling southbound in the curb lane struck him. There were no injuries reported for anyone in the car.

The crash remains under investigation by the Glenview Police Department, with assistance from the North Regional Major Crimes Assistance Team. Anyone with any information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact the Glenview Police Tip Line at 847-901-6055.
