“Every day more than 38,000 blood donations are required to meet the needs of hospitals and emergency treatment facilities,” according to the school. “Blood is traditionally in short supply during the winter months due to the holidays, travel schedules, inclement weather and illness. Because a reduction in donor turnout can put our nation’s blood inventory at a critical low, it is essential that people become aware of the need for blood donations.”

To prepare your donation, eat well, stay hydrated and make sure to bring your photo identification.
