5-Year-Old Dies After Getting Hit By Car: Police

Update: An investigation continues as the child was hit by a car Tuesday in Glenview and flown to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

GLENVIEW, IL — A 5-year-old boy, who had been hit by a car Tuesday afternoon in Glenview, has died, according to the Glenview Police Department. The car was driving northbound in the 700 block of Waukegan Road in Glenview shortly before 1 p.m. and struck the child. The boy was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge by the Glenview Fire Department, where he died from his injuries.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the deceased as Jacob Pikosky, 5, of Glenview.

The crash is being investigated by the Glenview Police Department, with assistance from the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force's Major Crash Assistance Team.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and is cooperating fully with the investigation, according to police. There is no indication of impairment, according to police. Charges, if any, will be determined at the conclusion of the investigation.

Waukegan Road had been closed in both directions from Dewes Street to Palmgreen Drive, and police were advising residents to avoid the area. The street has since reopened, according to police.
