A Citizen Soldier's Heart

Vietnam Veteran and author Paul Baffico to discuss his path to healing after combat.

Join Vietnam Veteran and author Paul Baffico at 10 a.m. Friday, March 13, as he shares his story of traversing from the civilian world to the elite 101st Airborne as a combat platoon leader, as well as his return to civilization and 45-year path to healing.

This program is free and will happen at Midwest Palliative & Hospice CareCenter, 2050 Claire Court, Glenview, as part of the organization’s Community Center for Learning.

Baffico says warriors cannot or will not open up and discuss their combat for many reasons, especially since they have been trained to detach and keep moving on during battle. Consequently, they return to the civilian world with an enormous amount of unprocessed grief and trauma that has never been addressed. He adds that the burden of their hidden and unknown emotions is carried over because there are few places to address the emotions in a healthy and healing way.
