'Community-First' Running Company Opens 2 Stores In Glenview
Runner's Republic and 3rd Coast Lyfestyle, both owned by Matthew Abitbol, are located at The Glen Town Center.

GLENVIEW, IL — With a goal of expanding the sport of running through local communities on a daily basis, two new stores recently opened in the village. Both owned by Matthew Abitbol, Runner's Republic and 3rd Coast Lyfestyle are located at The Glen Town Center.
"The stores are designed to be a community-first running company that will take what local running stores do best and utilize technology to enhance that experience by offering everything a runner needs in a seamless and comprehensive way," Lauren Svendsen, membership and events manager at the Glenview Chamber of Commerce, tells Patch.
The Chamber held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2043 Tower Drive last week. The stores sell footwear, apparel and accessories for running and walking. In addition, Runner's Republic and 3rd Coast Lyfestyle "enhance the local running and walking communities through their offering of specialty products, educational resources and training opportunities" to help runners achieve their goals.

According to Runner's Republic's website, the store is the first variation of Commonwealth Running Company, which was founded by Abitbol in 2019. The Chicago native, who now calls Glenview home, first began running in 2008 after losing 100 pounds. To date, he has run 92 marathons across 39 states.
"We, ourselves, are runners, so we draw on our own experiences as well as our extensive knowledge of footwear and other running gear, in providing you with the best service," the website states.
