Congratulations to GBS 2011 grad Maddy Stark on being named NCAC Player of the Week

Glenbrook South High School 2011 grad Maddy Stark, a Kenyon College senior, is named North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week

GBS 2011 grad Maddy Stark received NCAC Player of the Week honors after a stellar offensive performance batting .565 and ripping three home runs this past week. The Kenyon College Ladies (19-3) have racked up a program-best 15 straight wins and Stark, a record-holding pitcher, is no small part of the team’s current success. According to the Kenyon College Athletics web site, “in 22 games this season, she is batting .397 with 19 runs scored and 22 RBI.” The site goes on to note that “although she was not recognized by the NCAC for her pitching performance, Stark was equally impressive in the circle this past week. She made four appearances, worked 26 innings, struck out 25 batters, and chalked up a perfect 4-0 record. She gave up just six earned runs and posted a 2.08 earned run average. With 45 career wins, she is now Kenyon’s all-time career leader.”

In addition to her phenomenal college career, Stark has been actively involved with teaching and coaching younger softball players. She returns home this summer after graduation to coach the Glenview-based Illinois Shockwave 14u fastpitch team along with her father, Dave Stark.
