Cook County Board of Review To Consider 2021 Property Tax Appeals

Appeals Considered April 11 through May 10, 2022

(Alida E. Nally)

Alida E. Nally, Northfield Township Assessor, announced that the Cook County Board of Review will consider 2021 property tax appeals April 11 through May 10, 2022. “If you believe your property assessed value is too high you can file an appeal. Typically, homeowners challenge the accuracy of the fair market value due to lack of uniformity or overvaluation. Homeowners can also file an appeal based on incorrect information about their property characteristics,” stated Assessor Nally.

The Board of Review examines:

â—Ź Lack of Uniformity: Property owners or a BOR analyst can look at comparable properties and determine whether the assessed value of your property is aligned with the assessed values of other similar properties. You can search comparable properties at the Cook County Property Tax Portal, cookcountypropertyinfo.com

â—Ź Overvaluation: Supporting documentation such as recent closing statements, or information about purchase prices of similar homes to yours can be submitted to show overvaluation of your property.

â—Ź Incorrect Property Description: If there is incorrect information about your home such as square footage, you may have a case to appeal with supporting documentation.
