Over 230 paddle players took to the courts for an exciting morning of matches at clubs across the North Shore including Birchwood Country Club in Highland Park, Evanston Golf Club, Prairie Club Park District in Glenview, Green Acres Country Cub in Northbrook, Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Northmoor Country Club in Highland Park, Northshore Country Club in Glenview, Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest, Skokie Club in Glencoe, Sunset Ridge in Northfield, Tennaqua in Deerfield, Valley Lo Sports Club in Glenview, Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, the Wilmette Park District, and the Winnetka Platform Tennis Club where an exciting Pro-Am component was held. This year, the generous support of the Court the Cure players and sponsors raised $18,000 for leading-edge breast cancer research at NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore).

Court the Cure provides a fabulous opportunity for women in our community to come together and enjoy the sport they love while being advocates for an extremely important cause,” stated Court the Cure co-chair Liane Joseph. “Since the events inception 19 years ago, we have been able to raise more than $165,000 for leading-edge breast cancer research at NorthShore – an extremely important women’s cause that is near and dear to our hearts,” added co-chair Bonnie Flanzer.

All proceeds from Court the Cure will support breast cancer research initiatives led by Katharine Yao, MD, Director of the Breast Surgical Program at NorthShore. The funds raised will support a 3D modeling project to allow for early detection of lymphedema in breast cancer patients. This dynamic research at NorthShore will help to ensure early detection and more effective treatments for many generations to come.
