Cultural Diversity Celebrated During International Night At Glenview Schools

For 10 years, the event has brought together the Lyon and Pleasant Ridge communities to learn about the cultures represented in its schools.

GLENVIEW, IL - From Lyon/Pleasant Ridge PTA: On Friday, October 6, the Lyon/Pleasant Ridge PTA hosted International Night from 6-8 pm at Pleasant Ridge School. Each year, International Night brings together Lyon and Pleasant Ridge Elementary families to learn about and share with each other the many cultures represented in their schools. For 10 years, the Lyon/Pleasant Ridge community has celebrated its cultural diversity at the fall event. This year, parent volunteers hosted rooms that reflected their country's unique history, rich tradition, food, and activities.

Children attending the event received passports for stamping to carry along from "country" to "country." Parents were encouraged to support their children's efforts to educate one another on the unique differences in their own family's culture.

During International Night parents and children also experienced making Chinese paper lanterns, learned about Bollywood dancing, and tried Grecian cuisine. The night was topped off with various performances and a parade.
