Olive Oil Thief Parks Illegally In Fire Lane: Glenview Police Blotter

The incident occurred at a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Maria Rangel-Luna, 27, of the 10000 block of Holly Lane, Des Plaines, is accused of leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested at 3:45 p.m. Dec. 16. The arrest followed an investigation into a hit-and-run on Dec. 6. She was released and assigned a court date of Jan. 12, 2026.

  • Michal Tomczyk, 31, of the 150 block of N. Sierra Pass Drive, Schaumburg, is accused of aggravated fleeing and eluding, aggravated driving under the influence, aggravated revoked driver's license, driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, display attachment, disregard of a traffic control light, and was arrested at 11:22 p.m. Dec. 18, in the 1000 block of Gladish Lane. He was released and assigned a court date of Dec. 23.
  • Meghan Smith, 26, of the 1700 block of Northfield Square, Northfield, is accused of DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested at 11:50 p.m. Dec. 15, in the 1900 block of Johns Drive. She was released and assigned a court date of Jan. 7, 2026.
  • Michele Solo, 57, of the 1400 block of Pebblecreek Drive, Glenview, is accused of DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, and was arrested at 10:07 a.m. Dec. 15, in the 500 block of Waukegan Road. She was released and assigned a court date of Jan. 26, 2026.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

  • Employees of a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road reported at 9:04 a.m. Dec. 16, that a driver of a vehicle parked in the fire lane had entered the store, concealed four bottles of olive oil and left without paying for the items.
  • A Glenlake Drive resident reported at 12:51 p.m. Dec. 17, 17 unauthorized charges from their checking account between Dec. 13 and Dec. 15, totaling $4,000.
  • A resident of the 2200 block of Patriot Boulevard called police at 10:46 a.m. Dec. 22, to report someone had taken a large amount of money from their residence.

THEFT BY DECEPTION

A Long Road resident reported at 8:50 p.m. Dec. 16, being told by a person via telephone to withdraw $11,100, which they complied. They were instructed to deposit $2,500 into a Bitcoin ATM and mail via UPS $8,600 to New Jersey, which they complied.

IDENTITY THEFT

A Chestnut Avenue resident reported at 5:19 p.m. Dec. 18, their phone number had been tampered with and ultimately disabled. Also, their business website and email account were compromised. No suspect information was available.

TRESPASS WARNING

An employee for a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 10:50 a.m. Dec. 21, a customer had used profanity toward an employee. They denied using profanity but left the property after being given a trespass warning.

HARASSMENT BY ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION

A resident of the 800 block of Long Road reported at 12:49 p.m. Dec. 21, receiving unwanted calls and text messages from a former landlord. They said the calls and messages have been going on since July, at which time they asked for them to stop

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A resident of the 2200 block of Silverpine Drive called police at 9:41 p.m. Dec. 21, to report their home had been egged by two people.
