Northbrook/Glenview School District 30's 18th Annual Lew Blond Memorial Run/Walk, 1 Mile Run (for kids) takes place at 8:00 a.m., Saturday, May 19 at Maple School. The children's race takes place around 9:00 a.m. As the largest District 30 fundraiser, proceeds from this event are donated to the Les Turner ALS Foundation to help research Lou Gehrig's Disease. Funds are also allocated to provide scholarships to graduating seniors at Glenbrook North and South High Schools, and are used for special projects at the schools. Each year, over 1,000 participants join the race to either run, walk, cheer on their friends or family members, and to enjoy the fellowship of others in the community.
