District 225 Hires Search Firm For Superintendent's Successor

BWP Associates was selected to search for a replacement for Superintendent Mike Riggle this year.

GLENVIEW, IL — The Glenbrook High Schools District 225 board Tuesday hired a search firm to help identify a replacement for Superintendent Mike Riggle. BWP Associates was awarded a $17,500 contract to lead the search process after board members met with three firms in closed session earlier this month.

The Libertyville-based firm will be tasked with "engagement with the school community, outreach to prospective candidates, and management of the interview and selection committees," according to district spokesperson Karen Geddeis.

The district will conduct focus groups and offer an online portal on its website to offer the school community a chance to describe the idea candidate and offer feedback on the process. (A Superintendent Search Survey is open from Sept. 13 to Oct. 3)

President Skip Shein said the board felt BWP would provide strong support in the hiring process.

“One of the most important responsibilities of the Board of Education is the hiring of the superintendent,” said Board President Skip Shein. “This highly impactful, important decision is absolutely dependent on thoughtful input from the community, an effective recruiting effort and a well-managed selection process.”

Riggle began at District 225 in July 1998 as principal of Glenbrook North after spending eight years as principal of Bloomington High School South in Bloomington, Indiana. He has been superintendent since July 2008.

Riggle announced in June he would be stepping down during the 2018-19 school year. His successor is expected to be named by early December, Geddeis said.
