Donate Shoes at Skokie’s Spring Greening Event and Support The Douglas Center
Local nonprofit invites community to turn gently worn shoes into opportunity, sustainability, and impact

SKOKIE, IL — The Douglas Center will be participating in this year’s Skokie’s Spring Greening: A Community Recycling Event, inviting residents to bring gently worn or new shoes to support a meaningful cause while contributing to a more sustainable community.
The event will take place on Sunday, April 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Niles North High School’s East Lot (Westmoreland Lot off Lawler Avenue). Attendees should enter from Golf Road onto Lawler Avenue only.
As part of The Douglas Center’s ongoing Community Shoe Drive, donated shoes will help generate funding to support programs and services for adults with intellectual, developmental, physical, and mental disabilities. At the same time, the initiative promotes environmental responsibility by keeping usable shoes out of landfills and supporting reuse-based economic opportunities in underserved communities globally.
