
The Glenview Blaze will host their
annual Salute to the Troops Memorial Day baseball tournament May 24-27. More
than 50 teams in five age divisions from across Illinois will participate.
The tournament begins Thursday, May 24 and
concludes with tournament championship games for 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14-year-old
age groups played at 4 p.m., Sunday, May 27, at Community Park West. . Games are
slated to be played at Glenbrook High School, Crowley and Westbrook Parks, and
the newly opened Community Park West. Attendance is free, but donations are
encouraged. This year, the Blaze players will be wearing camouflage jerseys in
support of the military.
The Salute to the Troops annual fundraiser
honors the men and women who serve in our armed forces. Throughout the
tournament, Glenview Blaze players families collect donations of food and
personal hygiene supplies(dry beverage packets, sun screen, etc.) for care
packages , as well as cash donations for the Wounded Warrior Project. The Blaze
also provides paper and pens for children to write a letter of support to a soldier which is then mailed oversees
