PTC's Taste of District 31 Festival at Winkelman School

The annual “Taste of District 31 Festival" and cultural celebration sponsored by the District 31 Parent Teacher Club is planned for Friday, April 19, from 6 to 8:30 p.m at Winkelman School, 1919 Landwehr Road, Glenview. Advance tickets reserved by April 17 are $7 for adults and $5 for children under 12 and seniors. Ticket order forms are available on the District 31 website at www.district31.net. Tickets at the door are $9 for adults and $5 for children and seniors.


Eleven countries will be represented at the event including China, Colombia, Finland, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Poland, South Korea and the USA.


“This exciting event features food from our eleven countries, cultural activities and entertainment celebrating the wonderful diversity that exists in our school district,” commented Maria Kotsinis, PTC event chairperson. “It is an opportunity for our families to get to know each other and learn about other cultures.”

As part of the evening’s festivities, a Parade of Nations will feature students dressed in ethnic clothing from around the world. Student volunteers are also invited to provide the evening's cultural entertainment including dances, songs, martial arts and more. All students attending will receive passports for the evening that they can take to the various countries’ tables where they will be stamped. At the end of the evening, children who have collected stamps from all 11 countries will have the opportunity to win a globe in a raffle.
