Felony Charges For Man Violating Glenview Woman's Protection Order

The Wheaton resident is currently housed in the Cook County Jail following the incident in the 1700 block of Greenwood Road.

GLENVIEW, IL — A Wheaton man is being charged with two counts of felony violation of an order of protection following an incident in the 1700 block of Greenwood Road. Christopher Ray, 28, of the 700 block of Liberty Street, Wheaton, was arrested at 11:55 a.m. Jan. 22, following an investigation into the incident involving a Glenview resident.

At a Monday hearing, his bond was set at $100,000 and he is currently housed in the Cook County Department of Corrections.

During Ray's court proceeding, for which he didn't appear due to contracting COVID-19, Assistant State's Attorney's Mary McMahon alleged the active protection order against Ray dates back to last September. He pled guilty to violating it earlier this month in exchange for time served, according to McMahon.

Last Sunday, Ray showed up in an Uber at the home and convinced the resident to voluntarily go with him because he told them he was in possession of drugs. According to McMahon, Ray faces a pending unlawful possession of a controlled substance case in DuPage County and violated the order of protection on another occasion by calling the resident from there. When a relative of the resident realized she was gone during the most current incident, they contacted police, who eventually found Ray in a different Uber.

The next court date for Ray is scheduled for Jan. 30.
