Fire Crews Quell Glenview Garage Fire Before It Spreads

Firefighters extinguished a fire in an attached garage on Halloween without injuries to residents or rescuers.

GLENVIEW, IL — Fire crews contained an early morning garage fire on Halloween in Glenview without any injuries to residents or firefighters, according to village staff.

The Glenview Fire Department received a call of a burning garage around 3:49 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they found an attached garage engulfed in flames that threatened to spread to the rest of the home, according to Lynne Stiefel, village communications director.

A single resident met arriving crews outside and said they were home alone, which firefighters were able to confirm. After extinguishing the blaze, fire crews started leaving the scene around 5 a.m. and the last engine cleared the location at 7 a.m., according to Stiefel.
