First-Ever Citizens Academy Planned For Village Of Glenview

The free seven-week course will provide an in-depth look at the functions of local government in Glenview.

GLENVIEW, IL — With a purpose to "to provide citizens with the opportunity to participate in a fun, interactive learning experience on how village government works," organizers of the first-ever Citizens Academy announced a start date of Sept. 23.

The free seven-week course providing an in-depth look at the functions of local government in Glenview, starting this fall, according to a news release. Classes will be held 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each Thursday beginning through Nov. 4. Subjects will include government budgeting, business and development, fire services, police services, and the 9-1-1 emergency dispatch center amongst other topics.

“We’re thrilled about the opportunity to engage with residents on how our local government system works,” Village President Mike Jenny said in the news release. “We hope this program is not only informative, but also inspires future leaders looking to engage in public service.”
