FREE Scoops of Gratitude: Glenview’s Ben & Jerry’s Offers Cones All Day April 14
What is your favorite flavor?

The Ben & Jerry’s scoop shop at the Town Center in Glenview is giving out free ice cream cones or cups all day Tuesday, April 14, 2026 — right up until closing time at 10 pm.
It’s Free Cone Day, an annual tradition that began back in 1979. Co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield launched the very first Free Cone Day to thank customers at their original Burlington, Vermont shop after an especially brutal winter. What started as a small, local giveaway has since grown into a global celebration spanning 13 countries.
“There’s no catch and no fine print,” the company promises. “Just visit your nearest Scoop Shop on April 14 and grab a free scoop of your favorite flavor.”

Ben & Jerry’s CEO Jochanan Senf calls the day an “international moment of togetherness.” In 2023, the brand gave away a million free scoops. This year, the goal is even bigger.
“In 2026, our aim is to go even bigger,” Senf said in a statement. “We want to hand out 1 million and one free scoops of ice cream across the globe to spread a little joy on the best unofficial holiday of the year.”
