Facing 31% Rise in Bus Service Cost, Glenbrook High School District 225 Seeks Advice
Plan to increase competition for school bus contract leaves board searching for solution to a spike in costs for next academic year.

GLENVIEW, IL - The Glenbrook High School District 225, covering Glenview, Northbrook and parts of Deerfield, asked its finance committee to find a way to avoid a $345,467 increase in costs to operate its school bus service for the 2017-2018 school year at a meeting Tuesday, according to Daily North Shore. The district finance officer says next year's cost per student is projected to rise to about $209, but other nearby districts are still paying significantly more to bus students. The potential price hike has resulted from First Student, Inc., which was contracted to provide the district with bus service, dropping out of the final two years of its agreement.
